3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

THE HAY RAKERSPop-Up Band Extravaganza – five months ago, WaterFire held auditions for a pop up band.  The idea was to put together a group of musicians who had never played collectively before and then have them perform at the September 27th event.  The “Hay Rakers” decided to focus on songs their fathers played. Although the band has added a couple of current songs, they stayed true to the intent of honoring their dads by playing the silly songs that, in the end, inspired them to become musicians.  The group has (re) learned old favorites, brought families together, and addressed geographic challenges (several members are from well outside the region) in an effort to recognize the impact their parent-mentors have had on them. As a WaterFire Pop-Up band this groups’ debut is also their final performance.

3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Mixed GreensMixed Greens is a four piece group playing traditional Irish, Celtic and American folk tunes. The group’s leader is Kerby Nelson who holds a Master’s Degree in music and was a former bassoonist in the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra. Also in the group is music educator and violinist Gina Bagnoli who was also an orchestral musician. Brian Wilson plays guitar with the group and has been a member for several years now.  Norm (AKA Milo) Wilson plays chromatic harmonicas and hammered dulcimer with the group and has been life-long friends with the group’s leader Kerby Nelson.

4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

REUNION textFrom bluegrass to rhythm and blues, REUNION puts its country stamp on many different types of music.  Inspired by the music of Allison Krauss, REUNION’s sound starts with the vocal talent of Michelle Becker and adds classic, American – roots instrumentation.  Carl Sticklemeyer guitar; Joe Benes, mandolin and guitar; Luke Bundy, fiddle and banjo; Bill Dodd, dobro; and Tommy Valesky on bass complete the lineup.

5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

WEEDHAWKS promo#2The WEEDHAWKS are hard to categorize – outlaw country from West Virginia combined with a full-on Appalachian hoe-down style. They have tight harmonies, the masterful fiddle of the lovely Ruby Jean, and the “Johnny Cash – like” presence of Bobby Lane, whose story telling skills have been compared to some of Amercia’s greats. Sprinkled with a truth not often seen or heard since the 1970’s, these two are a must see. These two are the WEEDHAWKS.

7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
