From The Chairman

CHAIRMAN PICA Message from the Chairman,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of WaterFire Sharon, I would like to thank the many people that made our inaugural season such a huge success. Our generous financial sponsors and in-kind donors, along with our great team of volunteers, fill us with optimism as we begin to plan and build towards WaterFire 2014.

WaterFire has had a major impact on our community, and the event has quickly established itself as the premier art and music festival of our region. But the event is much more than an art and music festival.

Having drawn more than 70,000 visitors over three events this past year, WaterFire has had a positive economic impact on not only Mercer County, but also Lawrence, Trumbull and Mahoning Counties.  The great majority of the $500,000 budget remained in the region, and the benefits to our region’s hotels, restaurants and retail businesses added economic strength.

Our more than 650 distinct volunteers greatly contributed to the success of WaterFire. Their pride, combined with the energy of their volunteerism, strengthened the spirit of our community.

We brought beautiful art and culture to our region, and made it available to all – free and open to the public, not only to the privileged few.  We exposed our children to the arts, and engaged them in many unique and fun activities.  We created a family friendly atmosphere and presented a welcoming and safe environment.

Mark your calendars for our 2014 WaterFire Season – Saturday, July 19th, Saturday, August 23rd and Saturday, September 27th.

With the ongoing support of our community, WaterFire will continue to serve as a catalyst for positive change, growth and development in our region.

Please consider joining our great team of volunteers – many are needed, and all are welcome. Also, if you are able, please consider providing financial support to help us keep the fires burning.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.  Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of our board members with questions, comments or concerns.

Sincere regards,

Robert Wilson
