The world-traveling Zydeco band Mo’ Mojo is coming to Sharon, PA as the closing act at WaterFire Sharon’s themed lighting “Bohème,” on Saturday September 26, 2015, from 8-11 pm on the Main Stage. All WaterFire Sharon events are free and open to the public.

Mo’Mojo is both an international and national touring group, having spent the last year traveling as Cultural Ambassadors through the U.S State Department’s American Music Abroad program. In June of 2014 they made their first trip overseas – to Haiti; in October-November of 2014 they performed in the Dominican Republic and in January-February of 2015 they spent 37 days on the road traveling to DC, Belize, Panama, Mexico, Barbados and Columbia. Most recently they traveled to Tajikistan in June of 2015.

Mo’ Mojo plans to spend the next several months in the states with the first wave of a tour covering Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. Mo’ Mojo takes Zydeco music and infuses it with Blues, Americana, Cajun, reggae, rock & roll, funk, R&B, and African and Latin rhythms. They are supporting a new CD, “We All Got the Same,” on this tour.

“We’re excited about the Bohème theme for this lighting, and know that the crowds will enjoy Mo’Mojo. All the stages will be filled with talented musicians throughout the day and into the evening. The local artist community is planning many special extras during the day as well” said Michael Nelson, Executive Director of WaterFire Sharon.

WaterFire is an artistic endeavor that was created by artist Barnaby Evans in Providence R.I. in the early 1990’s. WaterFire was brought to Sharon in 2013 and will conduct its 9th lighting as its third season ends on Saturday, September 26th. The daylong event hosts food and artist vendors, a children’s tent, 4 music stages, all leading up to a ceremonial lighting of 55 braziers on the Shenango River in the evening. The braziers, filled with cedar and pine, are kept ablaze until 11:30 pm for spectators to enjoy.
