July 18: Americana

A focus on America’s Greatest Generation: Picture a historic riverfront downtown booming in its “Hey Day,” post WWII. Come to experience a fun-filled day of patriotism and nostalgia intertwined with American culture past and present. We welcome all Veterans, VFWs, American Legions to participate and be represented. Bring your classic car to our signature 50s diner. Classic games of yesterday like Twister, jump rope and more played by families in the streets. Enjoy historical walking tours, a petting zoo and children’s music and dancing will be the highlight of many families. Shop at our traditional Farmer’s Market in search of the perfect produce, Amish quilt or tasty preserves. The musical ambiance throughout the day includes swing, barbershop, rock n roll, crooners, folk, polka, bluegrass and blues, and much more. The lighting ceremony at dusk will move you with elements from this patriotic theme.

August 22: Jazz

A Jazz fest-showcasing Jazz styles all around America: Experience Jazz from around the USA including St. Louis, NYC, Chicago, Kansas City and the Big Easy. Attend this event to eat, shop, create memories and be merry to the distinct sounds of American Jazz. The aromas of BBQ, Creole-Cajun-Soul food from our featured food vendors fill the air. Top notch music acts draw crowds to all our stages. Enjoy the sounds of big brass down by the banks of the muddy Shenango River. Imagine a big melting pot of European/American/African/Island culture attractions rejoicing in the fun and good times with creative costumes, masks, live music, youth bands, short parades and African drumming/dancing. Interactive cultural art will inspire you on the streets. The lighting ceremony at dusk will move you with key elements from this truly American musical theme.

September 26: Bohème

A celebration of the unsung artists, musicians, poets and performers: Bohemian describes the non-traditional lifestyles of impoverished artists, writers, journalists, musicians, and actors. The term Bohemianism emerged in France in the early 19th century. We can use the term to apply to European gypsy inspiration or to our own American 60s “hippie” counter culture influences. Bohemians rejected the pursuit of wealth by living solely for art and literature’s sake, they create for the creative process not for the sale and profit. Think of the search for originality in art, entertainment and food that goes against the grains of traditional society. Enjoy creative culinary art, Euro foodies, food trucks, and much more to tempt your palate. Historically inspired traveling entertainment troupes are this event’s draw. Jugglers, stilts, barkers shouting entertainment schedules, the accordion fills the air, small groups perform on the street corners interacting with the crowds. Use our event map to find traveling troupes representing artisans and musicians from Prague, France, Berlin, Spain, Romania, and more. The lighting ceremony at dusk will move you with gypsy inspired musical elements from our European Bohemian theme.
